The benefits of our teen programs

TASGM Arts & Science curriculum can provide teens with opportunities to succeed and develop a sense of accomplishment, which can help to boost their self-esteem and confidence.

By expressing themselves creatively, teens can feel valued and appreciated, which can have a positive impact on their overall well-being. Engaging in arts and sciences can help teens develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Through experimenting and exploring, teens can develop their cognitive abilities, which can help them in their academic and professional life.

Participating in the arts can help teens to express themselves, develop their emotional intelligence and creativity, and gain confidence in their abilities. In the sciences, experimentation and discovery can also bring a sense of wonder and excitement that can contribute to emotional development.

Working collaboratively on art or science projects can help teens develop teamwork, communication, and leadership skills, which can be valuable in various aspects of life.

Exposure to both arts and sciences can enhance academic performance by providing teens with new and creative ways to approach problem-solving and learning. Studies have shown that students who are involved in the arts often perform better in academic subjects.

Our Mindful Curriculum

Our curriculum is comprised of workshops that include a variety of themed meditation exercises.

Here are a handful of examples.

Self-Love

Part of the mindfulness series, in this workshop curriculum, we will discuss the importance of self-love and learning how important it is to use positive thoughts and compliments, for ourselves. What is self-love? And what does it mean to love oneself. Participants will work and complete a project centered around self-love. The participants will be able to take their work home and use it as a reminder of how important they are.

Self- Care

This workshop is to bring awareness to oneself. How often do we care for oneself? What are ways we can practice self care? If you don’t care for yourself what are some things that can happen? Can not caring for ourselves add to our stress? The participants will work on a project related to one of the many self care tools that will be discussed during the session. Caring for oneself allows us to be present in the moment and to also listen to our health.

Gracious Gratitude

According to Harvard Health and psychology research, giving thanks can make us happier. For this workshop, participants will work on a curriculum to use as a daily reminder to practice gratitude. What is gratitude? With practicing gratitude it serves participants as a reminder that will enable them to acknowledge the good people, and the positive things in their lives. Gratitude can be given and received.

Grounding

We hear about grounding but what really is grounding? And no, in this case it does not mean you are in trouble :). Grounding and learning how to ground has been a popular topic in health articles, as it is said that it has many health benefits. Some examples of health benefits are: better sleep, improved brain activity, regulated breathing and healthier circulation. Participants will work on grounding exercises and/or activities, to share with family and friends.

Joyful Positive Affirmation

One of the best ways to help quiet the negative chatter is to counter chatter them with positive affirmations. Whether you listen to them daily, ready inspirational posts or write them in notes, positive affirmations are crucial to helping increase confidence and lessen self doubt. In this curriculum, participants will list happy, positive and uplifting things, colors to invoke happiness and create a project to centralize all the favorites into an art project

Power of Positivity

Within the workshop, we focus on a positive mindset. The curriculum entails positive mindset exercises as well as a project centered around practicing and sharing the positive mindset with others. Some of the projects include positive affirmations, positive language and positive ideas. We wrap of the workshop by reminding the usage of positive communication and reflection.

Hear Me Now

Being heard is a fundamental human need. We all have thoughts, feelings, and experiences that we want to share with others, and being heard can help us feel validated and understood. Unfortunately, not everyone feels heard, and this can lead to feelings of isolation and frustration. Using the right mediums provide a powerful tool for communication, as they allow us to convey complex emotions and ideas in a way that is both accessible and engaging.

Self Compassion

Self-compassion is essential for emotional well-being, and the arts and music can be powerful tools for developing this skill. Engaging in creative activities like painting, drawing, writing, or playing an instrument can help you express and process difficult emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a non-judgmental way, leading to greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and a sense of connection with others
